Sad to hear about the passing of Cevin Fisher.
Rest in Power, Cevin Fisher 🕊️
The house music family lost one of its true pioneers today. Cevin Fisher, DJ, producer and NYC house legend, has passed away.
Born in East Orange, New Jersey, Cevin was spinning at the legendary Zanzibar at just 17, learning from giants like Tony Humphries and Larry Levan. He sharpened his studio craft as an engineer at Arthur Baker’s Shakedown Studios, then went on to shape the sound of dance floors around the world.
His records are
part of our DNA:
🔊 “The Freaks Come Out,” a global anthem that still tears up every room
🔊 “(You Got Me) Burning Up” with the incomparable Loleatta Holloway
🔊 #1 Billboard Dance remixes for Chaka Khan and Quincy Jones
From Pacha NYC to clubs across Europe, Cevin kept the music moving for decades, and he was still releasing house music right up to the end.
Nervous Records called him “truly one of the nicest people in our industry.” David Morales honored him as “a game changer and an innovator.” We couldn’t agree more.
Tonight, we play his records loud. Thank you for the music, Cevin. The freaks will always come out for you. 🖤
